On Dentists

I brush my teeth too hard it would seem.
Which I suppose is an improvement on the vague aura of disapproval over dental neglect which the profession normally exudes.

The bloke seems pleasant and he passed my test as to whether he would recommend unnecessary work. But blimey, the prices are double what they were in my previous (also private) practice.

I am anticipating a similar experience to yours because dentists are just like that. I think there's an episode of The Simpsons where Bart and Lisa are taken to the dentist and on the wall of the waiting room is a poster that says something like "However you're brushing your teeth, it's wrong".
I actually think dentists are pretty cheap. The amount of training required to become a dentist must be pretty lengthy, yet their charge-out rates seem about the same as garage mechanics. My new (private) dentist will charge me for a regular check-up less than a fifth of what my firm would charge him for my time as an accountant.
