purplecat: The Tardis with the words Anywhere, Any Time. (Who:Tardis)

B&W comic panel of a hooded muscled black person clinging to the outside of the Tardis as it travels through space. The panels say first: something that clung like a climber to a rock-face... or a predator to its prey... and secondly: Something huge and dark... something like fear itself... massively, inexorably inching its way along the ledge... gaining a foothold... and lastly: ... seeking ENTRANCE!
The Stockbridge Horror was never my favourite Dr Who comic though it is from a much loved era. A bit too much horror for my taste, I think. But this image I think has been very influential. The new series has several times seen people cling to the outside of the Tardis as it travels.
purplecat: The fourth Doctor. (Who:Four)

Brightly coloured picture of a red landscape. A circular flat area surrounded by hills and mountains and green T. Rexes. There are flying things in the sky which, from context, I take to be pteranodons. Two men in fur loincloths and spears are visible from the back. There is an inset of the Fourth Doctor's head and a second with text - reproduced below.

The Back Page of Doctor Who Weekly Issue One. The text reads:

"I'd only landed on Magnon 5 to stretch my legs, but a malfunction of the Tardis caused it to disappear, leaning me stranded!

The natives thought I was a devil-being and tried to hunt me down with their tame tyrannosaurs!

I didn't know that their pet pteranodons were watching my every move from the air as well, and I was soon trapped in a sort of natural arena.

As the dinosaurs drew nearer, the tribe's chief appeared and had just ordered my death when the Tardis rematerialised right next to me on the sacrificial stone!

Just as well I'd left the door open!

... from the Doctor's Journal, entry 3512/A-7"
purplecat: The fourth Doctor. (Who:Four)
In the early days of Doctor Who Magazine, when it was Doctor Who Weekly, The Star Beast featured Beep, the Meep, rescued by two school children one of whom, Sharon Davies, is generally considered to be the Doctor's first black companion in any media

A tearful Meep relates his story to the Fourth Doctor. In panel one the Meep, a round white furry creature with large ears about half the height of a person is seen from the back talking to the Fourth Doctor who asks `Perhaps you can explain why the other aliens are after you? You haven't done something... naughty?' to which the meep replies `Oh, No Doctor!'. In the next panel (The Meep tells his story...) we have a close up of the Meep's face with large tearful eyes: `One day, One black day, the Wrarth warrior war-ships landed on my little planet... we offered them the Paw of Friendship but they offered us only... DEATH!'. In the third panel the Meep is wiping its nose on the Doctor's scarf `The warriors destroyed Everything! They did terrible things to my people... things I don't like to talk about tin from of the children. >Snuffle<'. The two children, a blonde white boy and a black girl in green blazers stand at the front of the panel the boy says `Cor! Torture and that...?'

But all is not as its seems

A panel close of of the Meep's eyes which are now yellow with red glints (But the Meep's Thoughts are far from grateful...). A thought bubble for the Meep reveals 'You Stupid Earth Creatures! It was easy for a superior intelligence to fool you!'

Meanwhile though the Meep must endure the semblance of being cute and harmless

Sharon is kneeling to stroke the Meep in a panel in which everything is coloured green. The Meep thinks `But it is still distasteful to have this Earth-child stroking the fur of the `Most-High'. He whose commands have made a thousand planets tremble!'

Before too long however

Suddenly, the Meep pulls a gun from a Hidden Pouch! A close of of the meep firing a gun with sharp teeth and eyes that now look quite aggressive. It is saying `Meep! Meep!'

purplecat: The Sixth Doctor (Who:Six)

Page from the Voyager Comic: 6 panels showing a ship sailing at night over a waterfall. The Sixth Doctor is strapped to the wheel `I am a Lord of Time!' he screams. `And I am a Lord of Life' replies a mysterious figure. The ship plunges over the edge and the Doctor wakes up having fallen out of bed.'

My favourite comic strips in DWM are Parkhouse and Ridgeway collaborations. I think I prefer Tides of Time to Voyager which has some elements that don't mesh terribly well (in my opinion), but this opening instalment is completely storming!

EDIT: It transpires that Tides of Time is actually Parkhouse and Gibbons so I am wrong (*sigh!*).
purplecat: The fifth Doctor. (Who:Five)

Several comic panels. A woman in a dark and white panelled dress is throwing hoops at a fairground stall. The Fifth Doctor thinks he recognises her and chases her into the Ghost Train.

This is from the second issue of DWM I ever had. I still remember the excitement of realising whoever was writing the Dr Who comic was as Dr Who literate as I was. From my viewpoint now, I'm slightly surprised that I recognised that as a potential image of Zoe and wonder where I had seen Zoe's similar outfit before, or was it just the hair?
purplecat: Black and White photo of Patrick Troughton as Doctor Who (Who:Two)

A comic panel showing the second Doctor pulling a cable out of the chest unit of a Mondasian Cyberman. The Doctor is saying `Only five minutes left... no time for mercy!' while the distressed looking Cyberman says `A-A-A-A-H! Alarm.. Alert all Cybermen! A-A-A-A-AH!'
You know, while the Doctor on the television has been both merciless and violent, I'm not sure I can quite picture him ever declaring that there was no time for mercy.
purplecat: The Tardis against a sunset (or possibly sunrise) (Doctor Who)

The Doctor is extremely lucky that his captors are prepared to believe in Time Travel on relatively flimsy evidence.
