purplecat: The Tardis against a sunset (or possibly sunrise) (Doctor Who)

Two Doctor Who companion outfits for your delectation and delight! Outfits selected by a mixture of ones I, personally, like; lists on the internet; and a certain random element.

I'm quite interested to see the outcome here. Leela's costume is the more memorable, but Yaz's is pretty awesome and not burdened with "something for the Dad's".

Selection of images of Leela's outfit from The Face of Evil and several other stories. Brown knee-length leather boots. A brown leather leaotard that looks as if it is stitched together with large red stitiches from vertical strips of leather. A leather belt/skirt which has a long piece hanging down the front and a shorter piece at the side. It has openings at the hips where a leather pouch and dagger sheath are mounted on a belt. It is low cut at the back with two pieces of red string going up the middle of the back to attach at the shoulders.

Selection of images of Yaz's outfit from Survivors of the Flux. A green wooolen (or tweed) hacket and skit with brown gloves and brown boots. Underneath a beige waistcoat, linen shirt and tie. Optional straw or furry hat.

I'm very sorry Yaz but fun as your outfit is it sadly can't measure up to Leela's icon look.

Louise Jameson was at Gallifrey One this year and during her interview panel, they had this costume on display. One of the things she said about it was that they had wanted to have her in heels simply because Tom Baker is so tall, but of course, heels wouldn't be right for Leela. So, they built the heels into the boots. You can see it in the middle picture.

Leela's costume is legendary, but I can't get over how sexualised it is. And that's why I as a young female fan never liked it. So my vote goes to Yaz.

Much as I love Leela's costume, and thought it unlikely that the alternative would be better, I really love Yaz's. So hard to choose!

I think Yaz's historical costumes have the potential to go a long, long way! Her costuming was one of my favorite things about Flux tbh.
