LEGO Rivendell

B. bought me the LEGO Rivendell set as an early birthday present* last year and I have been slowly building it ever since. I could probably have built it in a weekend, but I've been rationing myself - at weekends I got to add a few bricks every time I finished a task or chore. Anyway, the basic build is done, though my sister gave me a lighting kit for it for Christmas and I've still to install that.




Here are Bilbo and Frodo. In installing the first of the lights the One Ring seen here has somehow gone missing (fortunately there is a spare). In the background you can just see Bilbo's book.


There is a little armoury under the pagoda thing. I think this is Gloin. I've managed to identify most of the minifigs with the set - though there is definitely a mystery elf.


Look! Frog!!


This is the other side of where the frog is - there is a waterfall at the back there and the frog is behind the waterfall.


Apparently the arms of the chairs are actually hot dogs.

We have some dead space at the top of the stairs and now I've got this and a Lego Millienium Falcon and a Tardis we were thinking of maybe getting a display cabinet of some kind.

Very nice. Pretty pricey, too, I imagine given the size of it. $DAUGHTER was horrified when she learned the price of her Christmas present of the 11th/12th Doctors' TARDIS.

It was very pricey, yes! I've had a lot of enjoyment from it though.

Yikes, that's a big model - very impressive. Lights would be very interesting, especially if the water is lit so that it glows magically. Like the frog!

I don't think they'll go under the water - the wires can get behind bricks but most of the lights themselves seem to be design to fix to surfaces - we shall see!

Thanks! At the moment it's just where I've been working on it - I'm not sure where it's long term home will be.

Next you have to get the bits from another one to make the hall into a complete building. At least you do if you're my brother :-)

The bits and a fair amount of design expertise, I'd have said - at least unless you want the other half of the hall to have a big circular council space as well...

Glorfindel is my hypothesis - I should really go back to the movies and try to spot him and see if he matches the minifig.

Although he's not in the movies? And I presume the LEGO is based on the movies...

Pretty sure it's movie based - I must post a photo of the mystery elf sometime and crowd-source an opinion...
