I'm always suprised by how very tiny some of the sets were.

Yes! The northumbria shoreline in about 3 square metres!

I till remember being flabbergasted when I saw a behind the scenes explanation of some of the shots from the TV version of HHGTTG where they used painted plates in front of the camera to simular a much larger set within which Ford and Arthur would wander around only the central section (in the Vogon Spaceship).

and this one is even simpler - just fixed cameras concealing the fact that its tiny.
