Four more Doctor Who companion outfits for your delectation and delight! Outfits selected by a mixture of ones I, personally, like; lists on the internet; and a certain random element.






Tegan in Season 20 This is honestly my least favourite companion costume, but it was in so many episodes it was almost certain to come out of the random process. I'm not sure what it is about it - the lack of colour, the impracticality, the generally creased look, all of the above, but I think it does absolutely nothing for Janet Fielding. You are, of course, free to disagree with me.




Sarah in The Hand of Fear Sarah's "Andy Pandy" outfit is rightly (in)famous. I'm interested that either Lis Sladen had kept it or John Nathan-Turner thought it sufficiently iconic that it reappeared in Dimensions in Time (top left image) over ten years after it first appeared on screen.




Sarah in The Time Warrior From the ridiculous to the sublime. I really like this business outfit that features in Sarah's debut story. It set the tone for her presentation as a professional woman, while also being very of its time with the tank top and the big collar.




Jo in Frontier in Space I'm pretty sure this is intended to be prison uniform in the 26th Century. That said I think the black and white is striking and the whole looks quite practical and comfy.

I'm surprised at the love Tegan's outfit is getting. I've always assumed everyone thought it was hideous - but clearly I'm in a minority!

I'm voting for Sarah's outfit in the Time Warrior in this one. I much prefer her outfits from the Third Doctor's era to most of the things she wore during her time with Tom Baker. (Much prefer how she was written back then too!)

Her Pertwee outfits have definitely done better in general. It is a shame that they toned the character down rather, so much ended up being carried in the performance rather than the writing.

Yes, it appears I'm unusual in disliking the Tegan outfit! Good job I allowed some random selections - even if they've given us a lot of boring Chibnall fare.

Much as Jo makes me want to be sent to jail in the future, I went with business Sarah Jane, the tank top is going to the charity shop though. I'm fairly sure Lis Sladen chose the 'Andy Pandy' outfit from the boutique where she got most of her outfits from so she must have liked it in the first place.

We've been commenting on how Sarah's dress sense gets more eccentric - but maybe its just Lis Sladen getting more of a say!

I regard this Tegan outfit as another (not very successful) attempt at fanservice, but as the other comments show, you and and I in a minority in not liking it. Jo's (apart from the basketball boots) reminds me of a martial arts Gi. Voting for Jo because of the basketball boots and the context.

I'm very surprised by the Tegan thing - but also a little surprised Jo's outfit isn't getting more love here.
