Meet the F&H ref of Extreme Flange and his very fine hand-painted T-Shirt depicting Eowyn killing the Nazgul. I've not actually met said Ref in many years, though we are Facebook friends, but I don't think he's actually on Facebook that much. "Flange" was an early 90s F&H term for "making it up as you go along" and this particular ref was a master of the art. I seem to recall he once got an official reprimand for too much flanging. I very fondly recall an adventure that he had to make up on the spot which started with a peasant accosting the party and requesting they enter the forest to seek some "hideously deformed..." (it was at this point a look of mild panic crossed the face of the person playing the peasant and they ended up with the bathetic) "... things". I don't recall much about the ensuing adventure though I do remember that it was hugely enjoyable and involved a lot of instances where random peasants would shout "look! look! a hideously deformed thing!"

I was on that adventure and I too remember little about it save that it was incredibly enjoyable and involved much shouting of 'A hideously deformed thing!' Sometimes flange really was good.
