I'm getting more of a Blackadder Goes Forth vibe, to be honest, which is probably the uniforms and moustache.

Well it's probably fair to say that Blackadder hadn't strayed that far from pantomime on many occasions.

Almost all I know about it was that it involved musical numbers and cross-dressing (hence pantomime) - however this suggests it was more at the level of some kind of surreal satire.
