Reading: Still A Local Habitation, interspersed with a variety of DWM issues as I try to fill in gaps in my collection. I'm developing a strange fondness for the cheerful minimality of the Doctor Who Weekly approach.

Listening: I've not been running much because slippery, but last night I listened to In our Time on St. Cuthbert while trying to light a fire.

Watching: We watched the third Modern Miss Fisher episode which was rather lacklustre I felt, compared to the first two. It wasn't leveraging the 60s zeitgeist so much and felt overlong at 90 minutes.

Funny, I also just wrote about DWM on my other blog. I'm thinking more seriously about cancelling my subscription than ever before, so quite the reverse of you. That said, I bought a back issue from before I started collecting a while back and found I enjoyed more than the current version (this was from Gary Gillat's editorship).

I have to confess I find the current iteration of DWM a bit trying - I find the "nostalgia" articles doing deep dives into obscure corners of merchandising and the like too detailed - stretching material over three or four pages that really only needs one page (dear lord that lemonade advert article!). At the same time I find the more accessible articles like the Match-up competitions between stories (I've forgotten what they are called) dull and uninteresting. I do still like the interviews though - both the in-depth ones and the Tardis Tin, and some of the more survey level stuff that takes a broad look at the development of some aspect over a long period, I also like the more fan focused stuff, like the cos-play articles (though they seem to have run out of steam on that bit).

But still, I skim more of it than I read at present. But I've regretted the times I've stopped reading in the past, so I'm going to stick with it for now.
