My current favourite blog is Pink for your actual Pterodactyl primarily because of their ongoing series on the CHAIRS OF DOCTOR WHO which I think

thisbluespirit first drew my attention to.

I find it difficult to articulate quite how wonderful this is - though part of it is simply knowing that there is someone out there carefully watching through Doctor Who and then trying to find our what all the chairs are. I even pointed out the Terrazza Sofa when it cropped up in the Robots of Death which we were watching this week since I recognised it from several of the blog entries.

Whenever it appears the blogger comments on the challenge it presents to the actors in terms of sitting on it convincingly.

That's hilarious. The closest I've come to that in terms of spotting real things in Doctor Who is wanting to put together a playlist of all the real music heard in the programme. (Real music was used a lot when Russell T Davies was showrunner.)

I have also thought about listing all the fictional books/films/TV series that are quoted in the show in such a way as implies they are fictional within the fiction e.g. the Master reading The War of the Worlds in Frontier in Space or the banter about Star Trek in The Empty Child.

I've never gone through with either of those though. Maybe I should...

At least one Moffat example: every time I hear "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen, I think of Eleven's drunk giraffe dancing at Amy & Rory's wedding.

Part of the joy of it, I think, is that the author clearly knows their furniture so is able to comment authoritatively on things like design classics. They get very cross sometimes when they can't accurately identify a chair...
