The DVD caused a bit of controversy because of how rude the regulars were about it on the commentary. Partly because of bad memories of the location conditions but also because as far as they were concerned Doctor Who was an SF series and this didn't fit.

How odd. I can see where they are coming from but its an attitude I would expect more from a certain sort of fan rather than from an actor.

I've never been a huge fan of Allingham (not sure why, my Mum loves her, and I like lots of other detective series from around that time). I think I maybe came to the novels at the wrong point in my life (late teens, entering the "grim and dark is cool" phase).
