purplecat: Hand Drawn picture of a Toy Cat (primeval)

Tim Haines, one of the producers of Primeval, recently auctioned off several items in an attempt to raise money for one of his mother's charities. I sort of randomly put in a bid of £100 for Cutter's jacket and then promptly forgot about it on the assumption that someone was bound to cough up more. So I was a little surprised when I won. [livejournal.com profile] fredbassett delivered the jacket to me when we met up in the Forest of Dean on Thursday.

The first major surprise, given how short I am, was that the jacket actually fits.

Not the best photo of me.

The sleeves are a little on the long side but otherwise it's fine to wear. It was a bit warm for a sunny July day but it appears to be a well-made winter jacket so I now feel a little less guilty about the money since it would appear I've got a good winter coat with simply oodles of pockets out of the deal.

It also came with a large copy of the following publicity still, signed on the back by Tim Haines, guaranteeing the provenance of the jacket.

This immediately set me wondering about how you could guarantee that the jacket was the one that went with the picture? However I don't suppose there is much of a market in counterfeit Nicholas Cutter jackets!

This also lets us investigate the interesting question of "How tall is Douglas Henshall?" which has been a source of some discussion. Assuming the jackets are indeed the same and thanks to the wonder of the Gimp I deduce that this is where I would come up to were I to stand next to Dougie.

I'm 5 foot tall so the slightly surprising conclusion is that he isn't really all that short.

A very dashing jacket! And blimey, I thought you were taller than 5ft! I reckon Dougie is 5ft 8", tops. An orange box for Mr Henshall!

And I am sniggering at the idea of a market for counterfeit Cutter jackets *g*.

Hee! You look good in it!

And I think if there isn't a market for counterfeit Cutter jackets we should start one!

When I was at fred's I tried the jacket on too. It fitted me rather well, and I'm around 5ft9" and 5ft10".

I had a feeling all along it would fit you! *g* And as soon as I saw it at Tim's mum's house I was certain!

The jacket certainly looks pretty lived in, so I suspect it was used in more than just one photoshoot. *g* I think it's fabulous that a Denial member has got the very jacket that was used in one of our early headers!!

That jacket suits you rather well - do you feel as if you've been incorporated in the Primeval narrative at all? (I've not seen series five, but think that you would add some focus to the ARC team.)

cool :-) And it does appear to fit you rather well.

Also... you're only 5 foot? I thought you were taller than that, mostly because I don't remember you being shorter than me, and I'm 5'2. Possibly we just never actually stood next to each other long enough to notice, lol.

It looks really good, doesn't it? Am now green with envy :-)

To the best of my knowledge, Dougie's about 5ft 9, which isn't huge, though his legs and arms are obviously going to be a bit longer than yours (though his arms can't be that much longer, because the sleeves of that jacket aren't short on him).

I think there were two of these jackets knocking about - the one from S1 is a slightly different shade of green. I've a feeling this one is from S2, which always looked a bit more tailored somehow. But I might be wrong!

That jacket is absolutely my favorite piece of Cutter's wardrobe (outside of the black t shirt of course). Lovely a Denialist has it now and it definitely suits you. *g*

Glad to hear another Denialist is doing their bit re: annexing the Primeval wardrobe!
