I'm flabbergasted. I had honestly thought that ticket inspectors were a myth, having never encountered one before.

They used to show up now and then on buses in the West Midlands. Before that, I hadn't seen one since I was at school, when they automatically used to assume that any kid in a school uniform was out to defraud the bus company!

Takes me back to my days commuting to school on t'bus. And yes, there was usually someone trying to dodge the fare and the inspectors!

I met one a couple of weeks ago, which I think was the first one I'd encountered in 4 years in MK, but before that I regularly used to see them while commuting from Aylesbury to Oxford, as well as commuting to school by bus in the '80s.
