purplecat: The Tardis against a sunset (or possibly sunrise) (Doctor Who)

Survival has always felt like a thoughtful story that the show, at the time, didn't have the resources to do justice to.

I'll be interested to see in a few (10?) weeks' time how, nearly 30 years later, Rona Munro's next script fares.

I think Survival is pretty good all things considered. I suppose the Cheetah costumes could be a bit better, but by classic Who standards I think it holds up well. More problematic is that the subtle allegory of the first episode turns into preaching by the final episode.

Given that Survival was her first TV work (possibly one of her first professional works) and now she's one of the most lauded writers in the country, I am hopeful that she has matured!
