purplecat: The Tardis against a sunset (or possibly sunrise) (Doctor Who)

Four more Doctor Who companion outfits for your delectation and delight! Outfits selected by a mixture of ones I, personally, like; lists on the internet; and a certain random element.

Selection of images of Amy's outfit from Vincent and the Doctor. A blue thigh-length coat. A long bright red scarf and a matching V-necked jumper. A black mini-skirt that is shorter than the coat. Sheer tights. Black knee-length boots.

Amy from Vincent and the Doctor I love this outfit of Amy's. I particularly like the colour combination but there's something about the way she wears that scarf as well.

Selection of images of Sarah's outfit from Planet of Evil. Short cut jeans with a turned up hem. Chunky heeled cloth shoes in dark blue with thin ties. A short puff sleeved shirt in blue with a dark blue and brown chek. This is frilled at the ends of the sleeves and around the V neck. A light blue bodice with frills at the waist. At the back this comes about half way up with thin blue ties crossing over the shoulders.

Sarah from Planet of Evil This is quite a cute outfit of Sarah's. I like the bodice/vest - something that became much more of an item in her wardrobe in the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Selection of images of Tegan's outfit from Black Orchid. A flower fairy costume with a green bodice made to look like vertical leaves and a pink layered skirt with hints of orange made to look like the petals of a flower. A green headband crosses her forehead with a pink lower at one side. White low-heeled dancing shoes.

Tegan from Black Orchid I dithered a bit about companion outfits that were clearly dressing up but in the end allowed them selectively. Black Orchid's costume ball delivered this one for Tegan which is, frankly, one of the nicest things she got to wear in the series.

Selection of images of Jo's outfit from The Mind of Evil. A green polo-necked ribbed jump and brown suede trousers. A Brown leader jacket with large buckles at the cuffs and over the shoulders. It zips up and there is an oddly square neckline. Chunky rings.

Jo from The Mind of Evil Jo's outfits were often (though not always) surprisingly practical given her ditzy reputation. She looks like she means business in this one, albeit in a distinctly 1970's kind of way.

Jo's outfits presaged the modern trend for companions like Graham to wear everyday clothes.

While I've only seen the complete stories from doctors 1 and 2 (plus The Invasion which I watched as the first animated recon) and that a while ago, I seem to recall much more local costume attempts in stories like The Romans, The Aztecs and Marco Polo (not a complete story). Perhaps it's just that those time/space costumes stood out for me as something that was less prevalent in NuWho, though did sometimes happen. Rose did for The Unquiet Dead", the first historical of the new show.
I just realised of course that NuWho started with three episodes that reflected its original premise: first ep set in present day earth, second ep set in a science fiction future with some science content (sun expansion, continental drift), third episode set in Earth History featuring a famous historical person.

Some nice outfits here even if I am coming to the conclusion I don't like Sarah Jane's outfits. I went for the possibly the dullest outfit of Amy's as I'd like it in my wardrobe but with trousers.
