Interesting that Forbidden Planet and The Day the Earth Stood Still are serious, intelligent science fiction, but the posters make them look like pulpy schlock, complete with malevolent robot and scantily-clad damsel in distress, which is not at all representative of the content of the films. I guess that's how the public (particularly the US public) thought of SF in the fifties.
