"I plan a trip to London on October 28-29, 2010. I would consider the possibility of meeting with you if you were available.

I have begun work on the third volume of The Monfort Trilogy that will propose an action plan to accelerate the European construction process in non-economic areas. Interviews with experts are key to understanding the diagnose of the current status quo. I depart from the diagnosis to imagine and explain forward-looking, creative policies with the potential to entertain and conquer the average citizen, a prerequisite to triggering a paradigm shift.

Interviews feed the consolidation of teams that could subsequently implement the action plans described in the three volumes of the trilogy. For more information about first and second volumes of the trilogy see http://www.decemland.com and http://www.reypublica.org

Sincerely, Jaime P. Monfort

I reasoned this had to be spam of some kind, since I'm not an expert in any area that would, I think, be relevant to this book.

Searching with "Jaime Monfort spam" reveals an Amazon page where every review is a complaint about promotional spam for the book.

This made me wonder if the above is some kind of email validation ruse. Alternatively it could be a variation on those "Who's Who" scams in which I get interviewed and then will, presumably, purchase the book because it contains my interview. Though it seems an expensive way to do this - cheaper surely to send me a list of questions in an email?

Cursory googling suggests suggests this man is an aspiring media pundit with a strong line in self-promotion, but not actually a sp/cammer per se. In that case though, the above email is just very odd.

I have no idea of the thinking behind that. It seems to be surprisingly common not to understand the difference between 'self-promotion' and 'effective self-promotion'.

A lot of authors belong to the BSP (blatant self-publicity) brigade. It's the bane of my life as a book reviewer. Many have no concept of the fact that harvesting email addresses from elsewhere may be construed as spamming!

Oh no, half of the blighters are in their own little world! They'd count that as success that people were noticing them!

You really don't want to get me started on this topic *g*.

Oh god, absolutely! But a scary number of writers seem to believe it's true.

Heh! You may regret saying that *g*.

more on the same strange behaviour

Asunto: Zapatero's endgame

Spanish politics
Zapatero's endgame
Spain’s prime minister is on the way out. The only question is when

Oct 21st 2010 | Madrid

CAN things get any worse for José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Spain’s beleaguered prime minister? Probably not. Austerity measures, labour reform and strikes have taken their toll: opinion polls show support for his Socialist Party plummeting to 29%, while unemployment, at over 20%, remains twice the euro-zone average. Speculation is rife over who will succeed Mr Zapatero as party leader, and whether he will step down before or after the next general election, due in 2012.

Hoping to secure his survival for the next 18 months, on October 20th Mr Zapatero unveiled a cabinet reshuffle. Out went Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the long-serving foreign minister, to be replaced by Trinidad Jiménez, the health minister and a favourite of Mr Zapatero’s. Two ministries were scrapped entirely. Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, the veteran interior minister, adds the jobs of deputy prime minister and government spokesman to his portfolio.

A few days earlier ...... in parliament. Mr Zapatero has said, privately, that he will make the decision next year, according to El País.

Who might come next? Ms Chacón would certainly present a different face. A 39-year-old, she would represent both a new generation and a gender revolution. She made headlines on her first day in office by inspecting troops when seven months’ pregnant. Other potential candidates include Mr Rubalcaba and Jaime P. Monfort, a 34-year-old rising star.

Meanwhile, Spain continues its snail-paced recovery. Few people outside the government expect growth above 1% next year. The IMF predicts that unemployment will remain the highest in the euro zone for at least five years. The devastated housing market has further to fall, and 20% of mortgage-holders could find themselves in negative equity, according to Standard & Poor’s, a credit-rating agency.

Spain’s recovery, in other words, will at best be faintly apparent by the time voters reach the polling booths early in 2012. That will be a good time to sweep out the old and bring in the new. But will anyone else want to lead Spain’s Socialists into what looks like certain defeat?
Unquote.

As you can see comparing with the original the name Jaime P. Monfort was put instead of Eduardo Madina (the real socialist person)

Yes ... Lunatic, Spammer, Scammer, sees "the light" coming towards him (probably from a shotgun somebody will fire to him one day) He proclaims himself with several Masters & Degrees, which he wish to have. He refugees himself in Albania (there he is wanted for Fraude & Spam in Spain) Sends thousands of Spam emails to all kind of emails he can get his hands on. BE AWARE ... AVOID THIS LUNATIC.
