The train in front has, apparently, broken down and we are waiting another train to tow it to Liverpool. Meanwhile we have been shunted into some sort of siding.
I hope that everyone is keeping calm, though wanting to take those responsible for the present state of the rail network captive and submit them to popular justice would be excusable.
Everyone was very calm although our conductor did a good job of at least making it appear that he was telling us everything he knew as soon as he knew it.
The situation was resolved shortly after I posted this and I am now at work.
Conductors can be very helpful lightning er... conductors. I was once part of a group of Virgin CrossCountry passengers transferred onto a Central Trains service, and the conductor there was very positive and accommodating.
