Sod's Law of Rooves, I think. Same as Sod's Law of our toilet. It only blocks when we have visitors. But it really isn't their fault. We know it isn't, but it still leads to embarassing conversations, and the Evil Conundrum : To Warn or Not to Warn?

We looked at the wool stuff for our place in France, but couldn't get sufficient assurances that it was mouse proof, and the wet sheep smell would have been a bit of a drawback!

That is just life.

You don't have valley or hidden gutters, do you? They're a nightmare for roof leaks...

We have an internal gutter which was fine when last examined. The external gutters are cunningly designed to be lower on the inner edge than the outer so potentially overflow into the house - this could be the cause of the problem. I reckon the down pipes may be blocked or too narrow but I'm too much of a wimp to go up and look myself and B said they were fine last time he looked.

It doesn't leek badly but sooner or later the plaster work is going to come down and then we'll be in trouble...

When we lived in a masionette with a very complex hidden and valley gutter system (it was a nice 1930s place)there were pinholes in the lead of the valley guttering. This leaked down into the loft, and then ran down one of the trusses and onto the plaster. Of course, it only did it when it rained. It took ages to diagnose and a bomb to fix...

You have my sympathy - leaking roofs are horrible.

*hugs*
