The cover of Doctor Who Monthly number 64 (EDIT: 62!). The first issue I bought. It was subsequently raided for pictures to cut out and stick onto things so I no longer appear to have the actual cover myself.
I have a feeling that Star Wars was the enthusiasm du jour at the time DWW started up, though its also true I was entirely unaware of its existence before spotting number 62 in the local newsagent.
Not in this one, but I think there was in one of the later issues. I can't remember if there was a poster in this one - at one point I definitely had a poster of Adric in his Four to Doomsday space suit because I recall giving it to a friend who had a crush on him and that must have been from around this point.
PD was the youngest actor ever at the time to play the Doctor, so I guess JNT thought even younger-looking companions were proper.
I had never thought of that particular adverb, but it does make sense. Adric missed Four's mentoring. Nyssa might have seen Four as a father figure someday. Tegan was just too much at times, but she got some good zingers occasionally.
Richard Mace would have added some zest to that era, and with Adric leaving soon, the TARDIS would not have felt too crowded, perhaps?
When PD became the Doctor, I extrapolated from (a) the ages of the actors and (b) their lengths of service to work out when I would be old enough to be the Doctor. My actuarial tendencies showed themselves early ...
