I'm currently waiting for my sister to turn up from a conference. I'm just putting this here to say that I'm endlessly amazed, in a quiet way, that our total inability to get along when we were children has translated into a relationship now that is considerably better than that many of my peers have with their siblings.

I get on a lot better with my sister since she left home and even more so since I left home. Not in the nasty way that sounds! I mean, we now interact like adults rather than being locked into childhood roles when our parents are around.

The watershed for us, I think, was the two years my sister was very ill with ME, by the time she was well enough to have the energy for a good row, I was about to leave home.
