Reload page in style: site light

The first president on the left and the second on the right on the occasion of the second stepping down. Presented because in an idle moment today I googled the second president and found someone I think may be him on LinkedIn, though said person seems to be a very serious insolvency practioner which I find difficult to reconcile with a man who used to shout Lousiesie across the room at me. He also looks wierdly like Riley Finn from Buffy which is more than a little disconcerting.

Have sent a message via LinkedIn. We shall see if it's really him.

It is really him; I sighted him at a Doctor Who convention in May, where he asked Katy Manning about her friendship with Liza Minelli.

Only at a distance - we gave each other looks of recognition but I then had a call to the bar from someone else and didn't manage to meet Adam later on.

I also have a photo of President 1 and the treasurer* shooting water pistols at each other on the same occasion. I can scan that in too though not tonight, I fear.

*I know he was the treasurer only because the caption says so, I have no memory of the person.

I thought you would have done... Simon was the first treasurer, and handed over to Warren at the end of Michaelmas 1989.

I'm not sure what number president I was. I was only caretaker president for a term when the society was in trouble. I used to compare myself to William Henry Harrison (US President for a month), although as I had a much longer stint as treasurer, Gordon Brown might be a more appropriate analogy...

I don't remember Mat's time as president at all. I thought the presidency went straight from Fiona to Alex, although I'm sure you're right and my memory is wonky.

That seems to ring a bell with me, although I wouldn't swear to it. I think virtually everyone who was still a student, undergraduate or graduate, took a turn around then!

I'm entirely mistaken about Mat's presidency - the order is Kevin (1997-8); Alastair (1998-9); Mat (1999-2000); Caroline (2000-1); Fiona (2001-2); William [whom I'd forgotten was president] (2002); Alex (2002-3); James D. (2003); then Mat's second term (2003-4); then Brian (2004); then you.

I well remember philmophlegm's jumpers from those days; I had forgotten just how well they blended in with the general trend! (And I'm sure I wasn't innocent in the jumper department either!) :-D
