A LEGO Orrery - on top of a circular base containing cogs, sits a lego pillar with a large yellow ball.  An arm extends out to one side ending in a circular platform with a smaller blue ball
You can't actually see it, I realise all of a sudden, but there is a tiny moon that circles around the Earth which is obscured, in this view, by the Earth itself.

Many years ago I built a couple of those out of Meccano and other odds and ends for the science department I worked in. But I cheated and used orange ball floats (from older loo designs) which came on long metal rods as the sun, which gave me a nice solid central support for everything.

Ballcocks (if you'll excuse me saying) were one of the first awesome engineering devices my dad taught me about (he thought everyone should be able to fix one) and the thought they're redundant makes me sad so I approve your cunning orrery, and am now trying to think of a way to google for ballcock sculptures and actually get the results I'm looking for, lol.
