Our Deputy HoD has recommended a brand which specialise in shoes for wide fit so I will try those once these reach their 400K time out. The brand I always used to use altered their design to one that gave me blisters (consistently over two sets of shoes) but because I have wide feet I also have a bunionette that can get set off by shoes that are too narrow. I've been in positions where I've dropped over 100 quid on a pair of shoes only to have to charity shop them after 2 weeks because they set the bunionette off and I've had cheaper shoes that have lasted much better (not this pair obviously - I probably gambled a bit too low on the price range with these, though the issues aren't at the "toss after two weeks" level).
Anyway I agonise over shoes because I hate paying a lot for something it turns out I can't use - and which it doesn't become apparent I can't use until I've run in them for about 20K so can't return to the shop.
