I didn't have a problem with the use of the Civil War as a partial allegory until, I guess, I read the essay which seemed to say `Hey look! the South were right all along', followed by the one that basically pointed out that slavery had been deliberately removed from the equation in order to make the South more clearly sympathetic, and then I got kind of uncomfortable with it.
I guess it's when the allegory gets turned back to rewrite history that I get uneasy.
