As a librarian I find it deeply depressing when people treat Beall as a hero. He is virulently opposed to the basic concept of open-access to a degree that approaches conspiracy theory (pdf link but needs to be read), and the vast majority of entries on his list had no actual explanation of why they were there. (I have personally seen an entry on Beall's former blog in which he declared that a journal must have been "hijacked" by corrupt new publishers solely because he thought there were too many Chinese people in an issue.)
