... at least as best I can make out from a cryptic email I've been sent, once again invoking the mystic FSL acronym and referring also to the contract I signed ages ago to start 1st December and the contract of a completely separate person due to start on Wednesday.

I've emailed back to point out that both of us have acted on the assumption employment will be forthcoming and two days before we are due to start isn't a good moment to start flagging up problems.

The temptation to find a blunt instrument and take it around to HR is quite high...

ETA: Apparently these are "minor administrative" problems and I'm only being copied in for information.

I vaguely threatened to write up my trip to Schloss Dagstuhl when I posted about visiting Trier. I don't really feel up to an account of even the most interesting talks but I thought a bit of general waffle might not go amiss.
