Enlightenment was I think my second- or third-placed story in the DWM poll that year, with The King's Demons being first for political reasons (a historical setting) than for any other reason, and Terminus being the other contender. Enlightenment now tops both; it's the story with the most to say about human beings and perhaps manages Turlough's choice better than Bonnie's at the end of The Zygon Inversion.
