Japanese Loos

Almost the first thing B asked me when I skyped home from Japan was "what are the loos like?"

There were indeed most impressive.

The above is the loo in my hotel room. Note the control panel at the side. This, combined with the low cistern does make the loos rather long. In the stalls at airports and similar places it was often quite a shuffle to get in because the loo, itself, was taking up so much room. Heated loo seats though, I must say, are very pleasant.

This is a close up of the control panel on the loo at the convention centre. I have to confess I never had the guts to explore the difference between spray and bidet, let alone investigate which water pressure I preferred.

And yes the button marked `flushing sound' does exactly that, with volume control. It doesn't actually flush the loo (the flush was concealed elsewhere). B was fascinated by this information and Made Enquiries. Apparently loos in public places (like the convention centre - my hotel loo didn't have a flushing sound) were found to be using excessive amounts of water because people were inclined to flush the toilet unnecessarily in order to drown out any other embarrassing noises they might happen to be making. Hence the provision of a flushing sound button.

So I hope you all now feel more enlightened than you did before reading this!!

Wow, that's scary! Is simple loo paper an option or not?

I believe there are versions with a 'warm air' option - so the answer would appear to be 'no'.

I want know when Louise is going to explore the porny opportunities of this research.

Which Connor has undoubtedly reprogrammed to play the sound of a roaring T Rex...

It has to be done, and I think we need to gang up on Louise.

But you know *all* about these fancy loos and we couldn't possibly do them justice . . .!

Might do, might not do *g*.

That's ok, you can leave the hurt/comfort bit out.

I've been trying and failing to come up with a suitably witty response all day.

*looks at fred's comment*
There are no words, really. *g*

I've never been wholly convinced about jets of water up the arse, and elsewhere!

I've heard of hi-tech, but this is taking it a bit too far :-D

Oh. My. God. And we thought the *British* were obsessed with toilets. Amusingly, I have actually seen *other* pictures of a Japanese loo, as my brother was sufficiently impressed on a trip of his to take them also. I think his model had less functions *g*

Hope stuff is going okay :)

Travel can be very stressful!

I am very impressed. I've never seen a loo with a volume control before.

The 'powerful deodorizer' sounds rather intimidating!
