I really liked her as well. I think it's a shame she was conceived as a one season companion (though I can completely understand why!) and I also agree with a lot of the criticisms of how her departure was handled but overall, she was really great!
I also liked Bill but was unhappy with the way she exited. Until Ryan it seemed like all companions with dark skin were destined to be one season only.
Agree: Obviously not entirely the fault of the production team, but I think they can be accused of not thinking about what diversity meant much beyond casting someone with dark skin.
