The lack of reference material is a bit obvious....

I think that was the first annual I got. And since I hadn't seen Leela on the telly and started with the Key To Time stories I had a very confused impression of what Leela looked like!

The interesting thing is that, as well as an obvious lack of reference photos, there was obviously no description of her costume either!

Yes indeedy! Though on the positive the art style in these annuals is still gorgeous to look at. I was very wowed by my first Who annual, even if the likenesses were often dodgy. It would probably have been more annoying for people who actually knew what Leela looked like ...

I agree there's some lovely art in the annuals - particularly the ones where the artist appears to know very little about the show!!

That picture of Leela really is random. Even with a knife I still wouldn't have twigged.

I think this is the annual that suffered worst from the lack of reference photos - though there are some quite odd pictures of Sarah in earlier one.
