The Ninth Doctor/Captain Jack romance from NuWho season 1 was much better than this one. I felt Barrowman and Eccleston had far more chemistry in that (admittedly two-parter) than I felt from Gatwa and the guest actor for Rogue. Sticking Rogue into an inaccesible parallel universe felt unnecessary to me, as a way of saying "hey, this doctor is gay or bi" ut not having to follow up on it the way 11 and River played out.
