And while my first thought is "I'd love to read it", given the number of books I've acquired in recent years that are composting on my TBR, the chances are slim.

I'm genuinely not sure who is going to read it. It's useful as something to give to my PhD students and postdoctoral researchers but, best will in the world, I doubt the number of those will ever get out of double figures. We told CUP it had potential use as a textbook for an undergraduate course unit, but I've no particular desire to teach such a unit and if I don't want to I can't imagine who will!
