I've drifted out of Doctor Who fandom over the years, initially because I thought I was being too negative in the later RTD era, then I guess because I ran out of free time with my MA and work when I got back into the programme under Steven Moffat. I did try to get into Twitter fandom more recently, but I found it too political (or too hard to avoid a political minority), and realised that I seem to respond to Doctor Who differently to a lot of current fans, as well as Twitter being a huge time sink.
