Once upon a time: 1990s-early 200s, pretty much every folder on my computer was a CVS repository since I used it for everything: code version control, backup, collaborative working and syncing between home and work computers. These days a combination of GitHub, Time Machine, Overleaf, Google Docs and Dropbox cover most of that functionality so its really only folders that have been around since before, as you say, about 2010 that work that way.

I should really figure out a better way to sync between Dennis-sellers.com and my home computer anyway - storing images under CVS is stupid. However in the short term stackoverflow has come up with a couple of potential solutions I need to try.
