I think it will be interesting to see as the generational shift of fans who have come into the show via NuWho and become established, how much of this accepted wisdom survives and how much gets thrown out (and whether some wise women are allowed in among the wise men). The whole fracas over DWM's new Time Team line up is, I think, a sign of the generational shift finally catching up with another of the fan institutions.
