I don't think the depiction of the Sisterhood is particularly sexist. It's a common theme of the show that long life and safety can easily lead to stagnation and a phobia about any change at all. That's often repeated as the impetus for the Dr's departure from Gallifrey (though there are other hints and tales at times as well).
