Apparently it is the 3rd largest mass participation running event in the UK (after the London Marathon and the Great North Run which are both balloted events) - so yes it's big. B. said the crowd at the finish for the half was much better than for the 10K (which I've run previous years) if only because there were a lot fewer people and so it was actually possible to get to the barrier.
