This is why there are so few sources for the 'Arthurian' period - the Britons used books as defences, and after they had overcome their fear of the written word, the Saxons just burned them...

Or possibly Morgan hid them all in her Magic Tree House and then started Time-travelling off to Pirate Islands and the like with them. This would only work if the Tree House is bigger on the inside than the outside, but since it's time travel credentials are already established...
