There's an interesting acting beat, later on, when Rattigan realises that the Doctor isn't human and you can see that, momentarily that sort of reassures him about his superiority which had taken a bit of a knock in his first meeting with the Doctor. Of course, the Doctor later undermines that again, I think particularly when he tells Rattigan to do something worthwhile with his life and Rattigan sort of realises that it isn't about being the smartest human in the room.
