Neither $DAUGHTER nor I liked it at all. I would rate it as the worst of the Christmas specials. The overt Christianity seemed forced and VERY American (yes, I know this is now a half-US production much like the 8th Doctor revival was supposed to be). I loved the Time Hotel concept and thought it was under-used. The year in the ordinary hotel seemed both over-long and insufficient at the same time. 15 connecting with someone without being able to drop in and out of their lives was an interesting element, though undermines the whole "14 `forced' to stay with the Nobles" thing. I suppose one could make an argument that him leaving Ruby to "live her life" and ending up companionless again had more impact after he'd spent his gardening leave as 14 with the Nobles was giving him difficulty. But then again this angry version of 15 seemed to put the lie to his claim that 14's gardening leave left him unburdened.
